This is a perfect twist on Peas for any side dish.

Cut your bacon into small pieces and add to a large frying pan along with your onions. Cook until your bacon and onions are crispy. Remove from the pan on rest. In the same pan add your butter and melt along with the bacon fat. Add your flour, then cream together. Start adding your evaporated milk until you have a creamy mixture, if you should thin the mixture add a little milk. Then add your peas and pepper. Cook on Medium heat for 10 minutes or until your peas are warm. Add your bacon and onion mixture to the pan with the pea mixture. Cook for 10 minutes and then turn off and cover with a lid until ready to serve.
